Team development: Listening

To show your team you really care about them and to get the best from them you need to be able to listen and dedicate one to one time with each team member per week.

Sounds impossible – it’s not.

You need 5 minutes per team member each week – that is all and then you ask them three questions and take notes as you listen

  1. How has your week been?
  2. Is there anything that you would like me help with?
  3. What are your goals for next week?

This is called a PPI meeting, personal performance interview and it works a treat if you want to get the best from your team, show them you care and that they can talk to you  – actions speak louder than words.
