Q&As from Yesterday’s Webinar
Yesterday i held two webinars at 1pm and 7pm entitled ‘4Thought Series – 4 ways to improve your dental photography’.
If you didn’t managed to catch either session, here is a sample of the questions i was asked during the webinar and the answers i gave!

Q: Hi Laura. Does your photography course cover photoshop and powerpoint use in more detail?
A: yes it does, if you have adobe elements and powerpoint on your laptop you can bring it with you and practise on your photographs that you have taken on the day

Q: Really need help with angulation for occlusals. Any diagrams or pics?
A: I don’t have any diagrams but you will find it much easier if you take the patient out of the dental chair, and communicate well to the person holding the mirror
.
Q: When doing occlusals, is the back edge of the mirror supposed to touch the back edges of the teeth in the arch being photographed?
A: every patient is different, when the mirror touches the molar pad area it can cause the patient to gag sometimes – and we don’t want that to happen!

Q: how much should you spend on camera and lens?
A: whats your budget? Go for an SLR, invest most in the lens and look on ebay if your budget is tight!

Q: if the patient is out of the dental chair, are the occlusals very difficult?
A: No much easier than in the chair
.
Q: Is there any mileage of using hybrid cameras like the Canon G3 (I know there are more modern versions of this camera now)?
A: The G3 can do great things, but if you are making an investment in a new camera buy the SLR
.
Q: where did you say we can get things from?
New cameras – Photomed (based in the USA, mention my name when buying a camera and you should get free accessories) if you are in UK and want accessories go for photodent.com

Q: which are better mirrors? Metal or glass?
A: Go for glass, but take care of them!
